On The Prom' took place in various sites along the promenade between Penzance and Newlyn, in Cornwall and aimed to create an opportunity for artists and curators to produce, view and discuss site - specific work and to explore the concept of 'being'.
The show addressed the promenade as an interesting site in its own right, and offered the artists and the audience an opportunity to engage with being there. The artists who participated were required to move beyond their established tactics or methodologies and to respond to the specifics of their experiences. Both these processes of engaging with being there and of moving beyond established ways of working required a commitment to spending time on the prom.
The show sat alongside the first in the BAIT lecture series organised by Art Surgery (Andy Whall and Delpha Hudson).
