Aims For The Arts as Artdepts first work established their ongoing engagement with parodying systems, organisations, jargon and the re-appropriation of the aesthetics of corporate power in order to critique established power relations. It also established their tactic of using humour to gain the audiences empathy in order to unite with them in a mockery of the status quo.
Through a mixture of absurdist critique and black humour expressed in the form of a live art, installation and video hybrid 'Artdept' confused and amused the audience with the installation by non- artist volunteers wearing boiler suits, of a fictional anonymous and unaccountable organisations office and the screening of the organisations at first credible and then increasingly ludicrous promotional film.
